About Gaja Conservation Trust
Gaja Conservation Trust is a non-profit mainly working on understanding functional connectivity of elephants between landscapes. Our honest endeavor is to study, conserve and protect the connectivity areas so that elephants and other wildlife can use them to move across landscapes. We also study the effects of linear infrastructure on connectivity of landscapes and how they affect movement of elephants. We engage with local community living around elephant landscapes as they are the ones who have been protecting and conserving wildlife in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

As human needs and aspirations grow, there is an unprecedented amount of growth happening in terms of highways, railways, power projects, dams, etc. It is very crucial to study and understand the impacts of these linear infrastructure on the movement of wildlife in general. We at GCT have made it a mission to understand the impacts of linear infrastructure so that mitigation measures can be implemented to ensure that the connectivity for the movement of elephants is not lost. Contiguous forests and landscapes are the bare minimum requirements for the long term survival of not only elephants but also other wildlife in general. Please do contribute to GCT to continuously work towards our mission.
