Workshop on Menstrual Health and Waste Management - July 2022

.A workshop on Menstrual health was organized by Gaja Conservation Trust on 23rd Jul 2022 at Mangala School, Bandipura A hygiene expert from Honnavar  conducted the session. A half a day session was conducted for all girl kids & their caretakers. Some of the topics covered included:

 1. Menstrual Hygiene

 2. What is Menstrual cycle? 

3. Some important Dos and Donts

4. Problems associated with menstrual cycle 

5. Types of Menstrual hygiene materials & how to use them.

6. Correct disposal of used materials 

 

After this session, a session on Waste management was conducted for all kids of the school

World Elephant Day - Aug 2022

On Account of world elephant day, GCT conducted an awareness program on elephant conservation and role of elephants in maintaining ecosystems in a very simple way to the tribal and village kids in a school close to Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

Topics Covered:

1. Interesting facts about elephants and their importance

2. Their role in maintaining ecosytems

3. kids spoke about their experiences with elephants in their lives.

4. Threats to elephants and how they can be minimised.

5. A quiz session with the kids

6. Distribution of basic school kits to the students.

 

School Kit Distribution-Golur, Nagarhole

Based on the request from the golur tribal school, GCT with the help from its donors, was able to donate basic items required for the tribal kids. Golur haadi is a tribal settlement inside Nagarhole National Park
